If you have kids, you’ve probably kept their drawings on the wall for years. But you think their artwork important even though it’s probably not the kind of famous thing just like those great painters’.
Things are different for 7-year-old Kieron in Holt, England. Kieron only began painting two years ago. But he is a painting prodigy who has sold his work for thousands of dollars.
It was because of one of Kieron’s family friends who give him art lessons. The teacher found that Kieron’s works were a world away from most other kids’ at his age.
Kieron paints watercolors of landscape (风景画), animals and other things. All his paintings seem like the work of an old artist, and just like those which are in any gallery.
Unsurprisingly, galleries and persons would like to buy Kieron’s artworks. Picture craft Gallery is planning an exhibition of Kieron’s paintings in August, 2010. And he recently sold 16 paintings for over $32,000 in less than 15 minutes.
For Kieron, painting isn’t about the money, though. It’s just a simple pleasure. “I like painting because it’s fun. It makes me think of places I can’t see,” said Kieron.
Kieron’s favorite painter is landscape artist Edward Seago. And he plans to buy one of Seago’s original artworks with some of his money. His parents will put the rest of his money in a fund until he is 25.
